[The video feed clicks on, except at first, the image is upside down and you're getting a pretty decent view of a blue jacket before the camera's righted and held back at an angle where you can actually see who's holding the thing.

Bucky's still wearing his Howling Commandos uniform and looks a little worse for wear, if only because he was just in a firefight that went badly after you know. He fell off of a very fast moving train and into a frozen river, but the Barge has healed any injuries and he's just ready to get going on this. He can worry about the rest of it (being dead) later. So he just smiles at the camera, and there's a touch of the familiar cockiness in the expression, even if he's more or less trying to be professional. This is a job, after all.]

This is Sergeant James Barnes, formerly with the 107th Infantry. U.S. Army. Most people call me Bucky. I've been on assignment with the Howling Commandos for the last couple months, but I guess someone decided I'd be better off transferring here for as long as this Admiral guy thinks I'll be useful. [It's a joke, see? Also Bucky really, really does not know what to think of him or this place in general, because this is really not what he thought the afterlife would look like at all.]

So if anyone's got some advice on what to expect for the new guy, I'd appreciate it. [Really, he's got a lot of questions he wants to ask, but he'll leave it at that for now.]

[See Steve. See Steve stare. And then he's just -- grinning fit to burst, near to bolting out of his room and down the hall to find Bucky.]

Gotta say, you're one damn good birthday present, Buck.

[Well. Bucky was definitely not expecting you to be here, Steve, and there's some confusion and concern - because you'd better not have gotten yourself killed or done something stupid to wind up here - but. Wow. This is kind of crazy.

So he's just going to grin and laugh a little, because processing all this is kind of starting to head into TOO MUCH AT ONCE territory.]

What're you doing here?

[He's just getting up and heading out of his room -- which should look at least a little familiar, considering it's his old apartment.]

Being a Warden. Where are you?

Uh, fourth floor. [And he's getting up to head out too, taking the communicator with him so they can keep talking.] It's really good to see you. [Considering the last time he did he was falling and pretty sure he wasn't going to be seeing anyone for a while.]

How long've you been here?

Good, me too. [And very soon you will have a Steve barreling your way, Bucky.]

'Bout a month and a half now. Peggy's here, too, and some other people from home.

You know, when the Admiral snagged me, I really didn't expect this to be some kinda reunion. [But alright, putting the comm away because I see you, bro. :D]

Hey.

Me neither, but -- [Yeah, you're getting probably the tightest hug of your life right now, Bucky.]

Hey, yourself.

[Oof, Steve, you can really hug hard now. And it's still weird to be hugged by a several feet taller version of your best friend you used to be able to noogie without any effort at all.

But he's hugging back pretty much just as tightly because again. Falling to his death. Kind of a downer, nice to be alive and having someone familiar around on the crazy boat is really nice. So pardon the clinging. :C]

[And Steve's still grinning so very much, pulling back just a little to make sure everything's kosher and all that.]

It's real good to see you.

[Welp, Bucky's not going anywhere Steve, fuss as much as you want.]

You too. [Even if it really hasn't been long at all for him but. Again. Circumstances. And if Steve's taking in the details, there's really no hiding when Bucky got pulled in from. His uniform's a little scuffed up and he looks a little tired, but basically all right.] You better not've made a deal for me or somethin', Steve.

[Read: I know died, I'm sorry. :c]

Sure as hell was tempted to, but I didn't. [But then he talked to Natasha. And circumstances changed a bit.

Anyway, yes, he sees that, and he's brushing at Bucky's shoulders a little, jaw set.]

You're not -- shot or anything, are you?

[He shakes his head, and maybe if circumstances were different, he'd put up more of a fight about it, but for now, he's content enough to let Steve fuss.] I'm fine.

[He hadn't been shot, he'd fallen when the railing pulled away, and he'd blacked out on the way down, or maybe when he hit the water. He thought he remembered being shocked by the cold, or maybe he'd hit his head? He couldn't really remember.

But his attention's still on Steve, because if he's not here for him then. What the hell trouble did you get into without him, Steve. :|]

Are you? What the hell are you doing here?

No, I'm fine. I just -- wanted to help, so I came. [He's done fussing for now, though he's not going to let Bucky out of his sight anytime soon.]

It's kind of a long story. And involves me sort of saving the world. Twice.

[Bucky just stares for a couple seconds, because again, this has kind of all been a lot of stuff to process, and you'd better believe you should be ready to spill everything, buddy.]

We've got time.

Well, alright then. [He's relaxing a little, though.] Might go down better with a beer, if you want one. Though I'll start on the way.

[Bucky's still maybe a little in shock, but he nods anyway.]

Sure. Lead the way.

[And so he will, slinging an arm around Bucky's shoulders.]

So first off -- we won. I mean, I beat Schmidt. But I had to crash a plane in the arctic to do it.

[Bucky barks out an incredulous laugh.]

You did what?

Well, he had a bomb headed for New York. I couldn't let him set it off. So he...grabbed the tesseract and disappeared, and then I crashed the plane.

[Well, that's getting you a weird look, because Bucky never really got the memo on what the cube was capable of, let alone what it was actually called. Or, you know, that it was even a cube in the first place, it wasn't like Howard had known all that much about how HYDRA weapons were being powered.] The what?

[Well, neither did Steve until very recently. So he shrugs a bit and gives Bucky an awkward smile.]

The ...thing that powered their weapons. The blue stuff? It was powered by a thing called a tesseract.

Oh. [Weird. :|] Why'd you have to crash the plane?

It was on autopilot set for New York. Couldn't do anything else.

So, they dug you out, and then what?

Well, see, they dug me out seventy years later.
