[The video feed clicks on, except at first, the image is upside down and you're getting a pretty decent view of a blue jacket before the camera's righted and held back at an angle where you can actually see who's holding the thing.
Bucky's still wearing his Howling Commandos uniform and looks a little worse for wear, if only because he was just in a firefight that went badly after you know. He fell off of a very fast moving train and into a frozen river, but the Barge has healed any injuries and he's just ready to get going on this. He can worry about the rest of it (being dead) later. So he just smiles at the camera, and there's a touch of the familiar cockiness in the expression, even if he's more or less trying to be professional. This is a job, after all.]
This is Sergeant James Barnes, formerly with the 107th Infantry. U.S. Army. Most people call me Bucky. I've been on assignment with the Howling Commandos for the last couple months, but I guess someone decided I'd be better off transferring here for as long as this Admiral guy thinks I'll be useful. [It's a joke, see? Also Bucky really, really does not know what to think of him or this place in general, because this is really not what he thought the afterlife would look like at all.]
So if anyone's got some advice on what to expect for the new guy, I'd appreciate it. [Really, he's got a lot of questions he wants to ask, but he'll leave it at that for now.]

Gotta say, you're one damn good birthday present, Buck.

So he's just going to grin and laugh a little, because processing all this is kind of starting to head into TOO MUCH AT ONCE territory.]

Welcome to the ship of lost souls, Sergeant Barnes. The only advice I can offer is, prepare to be confused.

There's a lot to tell. The Barge is a unique working environment, to say the very least, and it's subject to some - unusual conditions.

She takes in his uniform, his introduction, and she already knows he doesn't know her. The Captain's ahead of her and Tony, and the Soldier's behind them. Way behind.
God, what year did he think it was? '44? '45?
All of this goes through her head very, very quickly, of course. She even spares a long moment on whether or not this is all a ruse. Maybe he's just pretending, like she is, and he'll slip, just a little, just enough that she'll know what's what. She thinks she'd see it in his eyes, if he recognized her.
That's what makes her go back to her room (because not much can make her stay in the Red Room when she can spend her time in the gym and the mess hall and the gardens and everywhere but here). When the video clicks on, she makes sure he has a view of her, and the room that used to sleep half a dozen kids on cots.]
Nicole Reese. I didn't know the army still used that system. It sounds so...old. [Totally in control and playing her role, yup, but she is watching him like a hawk for any. damn. sign. :c]
So there's no recognition, but there is interest, polite curiosity, and he shrugs a little at the question.]
I guess it could be. Apparently I'm about sixty years behind everyone else I've talked to. [If she's paying attention - which, who are we kidding, she is - she'll notice his uniform's a little beat up, and there's maybe some element of 'I'm sort of going through some stuff right now, but am hiding it behind being quasi professional and cocky' going on as well.]

Anything you think might be relevant, sir. The Admiral was a little vague on certain aspects of the job.

Good to see you, too, Agent Carter. Don't tell me Dum Dum and the guys are hiding somewhere, too.
