two ✪ video, backdated to day one of the flood

[Yesterday morning, Bucky woke up feeling... great, really. Better than great. Until he started realizing something was definitely very extremely wrong, which started to sink in when grabbing stuff snapped it in half or pulled stuff off the wall, and see and smell things way sharper than he'd been able to before, and there was a very horrifying couple minutes where he was pretty sure he was losing his mind.

So, after calming down enough to pick up his communicator - incredibly gingerly, worried he was going to destroy that, too - he scrolls through the few posts that have already gone up, and then flips on the video feed, looking vaguely annoyed. Someone who knows him well might notice he's actually pretty damn unsettled, but he's doing a good job of putting up a front for the Barge at large.]

Is anyone missing some superpowers they've usually got? Because I think I know what happened to 'em.

[ooc: Bucky's swapped species with Ben, which means he's got all the powers and abilities of an X5. If anyone wants to run into him wandering around the ship, tag in with a time and place and he can totally be there!]

[They seem pretty similar to Steve's, kind of maybe he's totally not sure. :v]

It's not, but that's comforting.

[Bucky manages a small smirk. It's maybe not as wide or as amused as it would be if he 1. knew her better and 2. was in a better mood, but. It's something.]

And a while later, Bucky's somewhat successfully gotten out of his room without wrecking anything else and has decided to carefully test out what he can do with this new stuff. Which has meant doing some running around on deck. And in the CES. And holy crap, this is kind of awesome, and he's maybe a tiny bit jealous that Steve can just do this stuff normally.

But for right now he's taking advantage of his new abilities by doing a handstand on the greenhouse roof. Because why not, right?

And Natasha has been watching. Well, not in the CES, since she didn't t think it was a good idea to try and slip in behind him, and since she doesn't have an Item of her own, she just waited it out. But now that she's followed him to the deck, she's making herself not stare.

Because it feels like if she blinks, she'll see the Winter Soldier using his cybernetic arm to do one handed push ups. But she isn't looking at the Winter Soldier, she's looking at James. There has to be a difference there. (Fuck this.)

Whoever he'd borrowed abilities from also apparently had enhanced senses, and he'd noticed her following him around a little. He hadn't thought too, too much about it until he looked down and saw her on deck. Not that he wasn't flattered by the interest, but he couldn't help but wonder why.

Which was why Bucky was hopping back down onto two feet before jumping off the roof, rolling with the landing like he'd been trained to do this since birth. The movement was instinctual and easy, and really, he could get used to this.

"Fancy seeing you here."

He moved just like she remembered. It was like they could just fall into old routines, as if nothing happened - but she blinked again and it was just James Buchanan who went by Bucky and God, this was ridiculous. Natasha quirked the corner of her mouth up as he headed over, moving to meet him.

"Surprised?" She wasn't certain he'd been able to sense her, but it was a definite possibility.

"I heard you coming up the stairs." Which was still weird to adjust to, being able to hear stuff like that as clearly as though he was on the stairs himself.

"Is there a reason you've been following me?"

It wasn't accusatory, really, so much as curious, because seriously, it was a small ship, but it wasn't that small.

She put on a confused face, because it was easy, and let herself look maybe a little too innocent, because it was fun. "Following you? I don't know what you're talking about."

If by it was more fun, you mean it raised the chances of him flirting with you, then yes.

"If you wanted to spend time with me, you coulda just said something. I promise I don't bite."

Men are easier to read when they are flirting. She is going to stand by t his.

"Maybe I do."

But isn't it weird when it's a younger, not brainwashed version of a person you used to quasi date?

"Well, I guess I wouldn't know." Yet.

No shut up she is not focusing on that at all shut up shut up shut up.

She just smiles a little, then nods to the greenhouse. "What were you doing?"

He shrugged a little, glancing back up at the greenhouse before looking back at "Nicole".

"Figuring out what I can do now. Figured I should test it out a little bit before I accidentally destroyed something important." Or before someone jumped him and tried to do something stupid, since that apparently happened around here more frequently than anyone was comfortable with.

"Smart," she allowed, but it was so strange to watch. It was like he was learning what it was like to be a super soldier; the Winter Soldier hadn't been one, technically, but the arm had done a lot for his abilities.

"Does that mean you haven't accidentally destroyed something yet? I thought I might see the rails broken, when I got up here."

It did sort of seem like this was what it would be like to be a super soldier, but with a couple added bonuses. Steve had never mentioned super hearing or vision, and considering the work they did, he was pretty sure it would have come up at some point.

"Nothing important." So very wry, because yep some stuff had definitely gotten a little messed up at first and he was probably going to need to ask the Admiral to patch it up or something. "Have a little faith."

"A little is about all I can spare." And wow that is true beyond the joke, isn't it? Nope, not thinking about that. "Should I be cataloging the damage, to tell the Admiral?"

Bucky laughed, looking at her with mock incredulity. "You're gonna rat me out? Aw, come on, that's not fair. This kinda thing takes a learning curve."

"A learning curve, not mass property damage." The teasing tone is in her voice still, and she makes herself smile at him like this is normal, like shes can flirt with him like there's nothing to remember. "It's probably my civic duty to say something."

"I'm not a public menace. Otherwise I'm pretty sure the greenhouse woulda been trashed when I climbed up there."

Which... would have been awkward to explain. And/or get fixed.

"Are you sure? Handstands on the greenhouse seems pretty menacing to me."

She really had to put a stop to this. Even if it was easy. Even if it was a good way to keep an eye on him. It was probably incredibly unhealthy and would be bad for her in the long run.

(She was doomed.)

Probably. Although for everyone's sake, it was probably better than he wasn't actually the man Natasha knew, because that seemed like there would be more collateral damage and hurt feelings all around.

"Funny. You didn't seem like someone who'd scare that easy."

So much more collateral damage. And Natasha might kill something. Who knew.

"How do you know how easy I scare? You barely know me." Stop making this so easy Bucky, please. Please. :c
