His body can't make something out of nothing, after all, and while it'll do what it has to in order to keep itself healthy, giving it the right tools makes the process a lot easier. He takes that pretty seriously, even if he's been guilty of eating whatever's handy (or particularly appealing and unhealthy) a time or two, too.

There's something in him that doesn't like having a place this nice, when Bucky's perfectly satisfied with what he's got. Steve would have been satisfied with that, too, really.
