Ah, Shawshank is a prison story about how a prisoner outed the prison's corrupt authority and escaped. Seven Samurai is about seven guys hired to guard a town from bandits. The Magnificent Seven is the American version of the same story. It's a Wonderful Life is about a guy who's convinced to find value in his life by his guardian angel, but it's usually a Christmas thing. The Sting is about some guys that get together to con a mob boss out of his money. Die Hard is about a cop on vacation who ends up in the same building as it's attacked and he has to take care of the situation pretty much on his own. Blade Runner is a detective story, but with lots of shiny things. And the Princess Bride is about a bratty kid who doesn't want to hear a story because he's already decided he doesn't like it, but then he ends up listening to it and figuring out he did like it after all.
